Sony’s secret plan to bring Wii U games to the PS3 revealed!

The Nintendo Wii U, Ninty’s latest games console, stands out from its more traditional rivals with a gamepad that packs a screen inside it. Or does it? As Sony’s PS Vita handheld reaches its first birthday, the Japanese gaming giant has dropped a massive hint that it’s working on bringing Wii U dual-screen games to the PlayStation 3. Read on to find out how.
In an interview with CVG, a senior producer at Sony XDev Studio Europe, Tom O’Connor, hinted that Sony is trying to lure Wii U developers using Sony’s Cross-Controller feature, which allows the PS Vita to act as a gamepad and second screen for PS3 games.
2012: The year the Nintendo 3DS came of age
“Cross-controller gives publishers an extra option. There will be some games that are being developed for other dual-screen platforms, though I can’t name any names, and we can allow that to be possible on PS3. That gives publishers more multiplatform opportunities.”
In other words, impressive Wii U games that make use of two screens, like Ubisoft’s terrifying ZombiU, could be made for Sony consoles. And the more people developers can reach with a game, the more they’re likely to make a game on that platform or with that controller model.
Got a PS Vita? Would Cross-Controller stop you from getting a Wii U? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below.
